What is IPL Treatment?

IPL Treatment

If you are looking for a treatment that can address superficial skin concerns without enduring a surgical procedure, you have come to the right place. Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is used to treat several skin concerns. It is a popular choice for the treatment of scarring, blemishes, and red spots, to name a few. At Rejuvené MD in El Paso, TX, we offer IPL. We care about the needs of our patients and put them first. We offer a comfortable experience for everyone. If you would like to know more about IPL treatment and how it can benefit you, contact us. We will answer all your questions and help you make the right decision regarding your skin concern.

What is IPL Treatment?

A skin blemish can be described as a patch of skin that is different in color from the skin around it. Blemishes can include freckles, red spots, sun damage, dark spots, and vessels. Changes in your skin, such as broken vessels or redness on your face, are caused by rosacea. This uneven skin tone is also considered a blemish.

IPL works by harnessing specific wavelengths of light energy to target pigmented skin cells on the surface of your skin. This process helps your skin shed dead skin cells quicker so new, healthier ones can grow. This results in your skin looking more evenly toned and feeling rejuvenated. The wavelengths are created by a special device. They can be used to break down damaged capillaries on your skin to reduce inflammation.

Before The Procedure

There are a few things that should be avoided before you have IPL treatment. This will enhance your results and make your procedure go smoothly.

You should avoid direct sun exposure for at least 14 days before treatment, or the IPL treatment may trigger melanin production. If you have to be exposed to the sun, we recommend you use SPF 30 or SPF 50 sunscreen.

During The Procedure

During your procedure, a specialized device will be used on the target areas. This phase of the procedure is pain-free and completely comfortable. IPL laser treatments have been FDA-approved for the treatment of skin blemishes, and the entire procedure can be done quickly and easily.

Aftercare For IPL Treatment

After your treatment, you can continue with most of your everyday activities. We do recommend that you avoid unprotected sun exposure, again using SPF 30 or SPF 50 sunscreen. You should also avoid certain skincare products. Keeping your skin moisturized is vital to enhancing your results. In addition, drinking lots of water will encourage your skin to become healthier. These are just a few measures to take for better results.

If you take good care of your skin after your IPL treatment, you can enhance your results and prolong them. You can also avoid hyperpigmentation. Taking good care of your skin can include simple tasks, such as applying SPF 30 sunscreen when exposed to the sun. We recommend a healthy skincare routine to take care of your skin after IPL treatment if you have a chronic skin condition.

How Many IPL Treatments Do I Need?

Although you will see results after one session, it is recommended that you have a few sessions. This will ensure that you achieve the results that you desire from IPL treatment. The condition of your skin and your desired outcome will determine how many treatment sessions you will need. Three treatments are usually enough to give visible and long-lasting results. Treatment sessions are spaced 4 weeks apart to ensure that your skin has time to heal. In addition, treating chronic skin conditions, such as rosacea, may require more than three sessions to gain optimal results.

IPL – The Results

IPL offers great results, including skin rejuvenation. The results you achieve with IPL can be seen within a few days of your treatment. Your initial results will appear as moderate skin darkening in the target areas. Over time, these darkened areas will start to shed. The skin beneath the darkened skin will be noticeably brighter, more radiant, and healthier. This will result in a more even skin tone. The darker skin tone is a normal part of the recovery process when considering broken vessels. Eventually, any other red areas of your skin will shed and fade away. IPL stimulates the production of collagen. This results in your skin being tighter on the surface. It will also correct enlarged pores. Overall, this helps your skin to feel smoother while it softens fine lines.

Are You a Good Candidate For IPL Treatment?

If you have an uneven skin tone or mild to moderate skin pigmentations, such as sun spots, you may be a suitable candidate for IPL. IPL is a low-risk treatment that offers many benefits to its users.

Before you have IPL treatment, you will need to schedule a consultation with us to determine whether you are a suitable candidate. During this consultation, we will discuss your desired results, assess your skin condition, and the number of sessions you need. Skin blemishes and pigmentations are not easy to avoid, but IPL can help you with your skin concerns.

IPL For You

IPL is a great alternative to surgical skincare treatments. While surgery will leave you with scarring, require an extensive recovery period, and cost you lots of money, IPL offers the same benefits without all the negative aspects. At Rejuvené MD, we offer IPL treatment. If you would like to know more about IPL skin rejuvenation, contact us today. In the area? Visit us in El Paso, TX, and schedule your initial consultation.
